2009 Just Walk a huge success | limited time only 10% off all registration fees

Saturday saw the third successful Just Walk  take place in the South Downs, West Sussex.  The one-day walking challenge saw over 700 people walking 10, 20, 40 or 60 kilometres fundraise for a charity of choice.

The event was opened by Olympic medal winner and keen athlete, Acer Nethercott.  Acer said, “Just Walk is a wonderful event. It’s fabulous to see so many people out in the open air, raising funds for their chosen charity. I hope to take part myself next year!”

Across the Divide began Just Walk as a result of continued requests from charities wanting to get involved in fundraising walks, but unable to invest time and money into their own events. To date, Just Walk has raised over £1 million for over 200 charities.

Gemma Phillips, UK Events Co-ordinator at Across the Divide says, “The event was a great success. It was our biggest year yet with a fantastic turn out on a beautiful day. The walk was tough in places but we had some very happy walkers crossing the finish line. Here’s to Just Walk 2010.”

The next Just Walk event will be taking place on 15 May 2010 and for a limited time only we are offering 10% off all registrations fees – so join us now.

Novelist Jojo Moyes explains why she joined 1,500 people for a night hike through London

Source: the Daily Telegraph | Monday 22nd September | written by JoJo Moyes

Pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor gazed at the crowd in front of London’s City Hall, and then down at her trainers. “You can tell I’m truly serious about this because I’m wearing the ugliest shoes possible,” she sighed. “And in public.”

Walk on: Moyes hiked 20 miles, and all night, for cancer patients
Like Ellis-Bextor, I am not a natural walker. I’m happiest behind my desk writing novels, so it was surreal to find myself wedged between her, presenter Anneka Rice, and Sarah Brown, wife of the Prime Minister, as we joined 1,500 people to walk 20 miles on Friday night.

Sunset Walk – 14th September, Central London

Across the Divide have teamed up with Oxfam, in partnership with Muslim Aid, for the first Sunset Walk.

The Sunset Walk is a short stroll with a big heart. It’s your chance to take part in the season of Ramadan. To make new friends as you walk and talk – and raise money to provide food for poor communities worldwide.

It’s the most sociable and laidback fundraising you’ll ever do. The route passes through four royal parks – St. James, Green Park, Hyde Park and Regents Park. And when the sun goes down, you’ll share a fabulously tasty meal at the London Central Mosque.   Click here for further details.
